Buying Beds Online in Dubai: Sizes, Materials and Mattress Fit

If you want to buy a bed online in Dubai, the two mistakes that cost people the most money have nothing to do with style. The first is ordering a frame that does not match a UAE-standard mattress. The second is choosing a material without thinking about how it will be cleaned and how long it should last. This guide covers both, using the sizes and materials we actually sell at Adams Furniture, so you can order a bed online with the same confidence as buying one in a showroom. Every bed in our beds collection is listed with its mattress size in centimetres, which is the single most important number on the page.

UAE bed sizes in centimetres

Bed sizes in the UAE follow the metric Gulf standard rather than American or British naming, and the difference matters more than most shoppers expect. The three sizes you will see across our bed frames are:

  • Queen — 160 x 200 cm. The most common choice for couples in one and two bedroom apartments. It leaves room for two bedside tables in most Dubai master bedrooms.
  • King — 180 x 200 cm. The default for villa master bedrooms. Note that a UAE king is not the same shape as a US king, which is wider and shorter.
  • Super king — 200 x 200 cm. A square two-metre sleeping surface that is largely specific to the Gulf market. If you have the room width, it is the most comfortable option for two people.

Frames such as the Skoggen Wave bed and the Chunky Boucle bed are offered in all three of these sizes, so you choose the frame first and the size at checkout.

Why imported frames cause mattress problems

A large share of the bed problems we hear about start with a frame bought abroad or from a retailer using US or UK sizing. An American king mattress is wider and shorter than the UAE 180 x 200 cm standard, so a UAE king mattress placed in an imported frame either will not sit inside the rails or leaves a visible gap. Even a few centimetres of mismatch causes the mattress to shift and the edges to sag. Before you order any bed online, check that the listing states the mattress size in centimetres — not just "king" or "queen" — and match it to the mattress you own or plan to buy locally. All Adams frames are built around UAE metric mattress sizes.

How to buy a bed online in Dubai: five checks before you order

To buy a bed online in Dubai without surprises, run through these five checks on the product page:

  1. Mattress size in cm. 160 x 200, 180 x 200 or 200 x 200. This should be stated explicitly.
  2. Overall frame footprint. The frame is always larger than the mattress. An upholstered frame with a wide headboard, like the Valenza bed, needs more wall width than the mattress size suggests, so measure your room before ordering.
  3. Headboard height. Check it against window sills and air-conditioning vents, which sit low in many Dubai apartments.
  4. Access. Confirm the frame sections will pass through your corridor, lift and bedroom door. Beds are delivered in parts and assembled in the room, which is why delivery with installation matters.
  5. Base type. Slatted bases suit most mattresses sold in the UAE; if your mattress maker specifies a solid base, confirm before ordering.

Upholstered, boucle and linen beds

Fabric-covered frames dominate Dubai bedrooms at the moment, and for good reason: they are quiet, soft-edged and comfortable to sit against. Within our range, the Skoggen Wave bed (AED 6,500–7,500 depending on size) has a sculpted wave headboard, while the Valenza bed (AED 9,500) takes the wide, soft-headboard approach. The Minimalist slipcovered linen bed (AED 6,500–7,500) is worth a look if cleaning is your concern — the linen cover is removable, which solves the main drawback of upholstered frames in a dusty climate. Boucle remains popular; the Chunky Boucle bed runs AED 6,500–7,300 across the three sizes.

If storage is the priority, a storage bed replaces a chest of drawers in a compact apartment. The Boucle storage bed (AED 6,500–7,500) lifts to reveal a full storage compartment under the mattress — useful in bedrooms where a separate unit from our storage cabinets and dressers range will not fit.

Solid wood beds

Wooden frames cost more upfront and last longer. They also handle Dubai's dust more gracefully — a wipe rather than a vacuum. The Ebonized oak four-poster bed (AED 12,000) is the top of our solid wood range, made from solid oak with a dark ebonised finish. The Alicia four-poster bed (AED 9,500–10,500) offers the same silhouette in a lighter look, and the Sleigh bed (AED 6,000–7,000) is the classic curved-headboard option. A well-made solid wood frame is the kind of piece that outlasts several mattresses, so treat it as the longer-term purchase of the two categories.

What beds cost in Dubai

Across our current range, bed frames run from AED 6,000 for the Sleigh bed in queen size up to AED 12,000 for the solid oak four-poster — with most upholstered frames sitting between AED 6,500 and 9,500. Large chain retailers in the UAE sell mass-produced frames below this range, and the difference is in the construction: frame material, joinery and the density of the upholstery foam. If a bed will be used every night for a decade, the price per year of ownership is a more useful number than the ticket price. For a child's room, the Harper kids canopy bed (AED 7,500) applies the same construction standard at a kids' scale.

Finishing the bedroom

A bed rarely arrives alone. Matching bedside tables at the right height — level with or slightly below the top of the mattress — make the biggest practical difference. An upholstered bench from our ottomans and benches range gives you somewhere to sit at the end of the bed, and a rug from the rugs collection softens tile floors, which most Dubai bedrooms have. The full bedroom collection groups all of it in one place.

Frequently asked questions

What size is a king bed in the UAE?

A UAE king mattress is 180 x 200 cm. It is a different shape from a US king, which is wider and shorter, so imported frames and local mattresses often do not match. Always check the size in centimetres.

Can I buy a bed online in Dubai without seeing it first?

Yes, provided the listing gives you the mattress size in centimetres, the overall frame dimensions and clear photos of the material. Those three details cover the majority of what a showroom visit tells you. If anything is missing from one of our listings, contact us and we will measure the piece for you.

Do beds come assembled?

No — beds are delivered in sections and assembled in the bedroom. This is the only practical way to get a king or super king frame through apartment corridors and lifts, and it is why delivery with installation is worth confirming before you order.

Are upholstered beds practical in Dubai?

Yes, with regular vacuuming to manage dust. If you want the softness of fabric with easier cleaning, choose a slipcovered design with a removable, washable cover such as the Minimalist slipcovered linen bed.

Which lasts longer, an upholstered bed or a solid wood bed?

Solid wood, as a rule. Fabric shows wear from use and cleaning over the years, while a solid oak or teak frame can be refinished and typically outlasts several mattresses.

Ready to order?

Every frame above is in our online store with prices in AED and delivery across Dubai and the UAE. Start with the beds collection, then complete the room from bedside tables, storage cabinets and dressers, ottomans and benches, mirrors and rugs. If you are furnishing a guest room that doubles as a study, a sofa bed may be the better use of the space.
