How to Choose the Right Sofa for Your Dubai Home

A sofa is one of the biggest furniture decisions you'll make — and in Dubai, where villa living rooms are large and apartments vary widely, getting the size and fabric right matters more than the price tag. Here's how to choose a sofa that fits your space and lasts.

Get the size right first

For a typical Dubai villa living room, aim for a sofa around 280–360cm wide, or an L-shaped layout of 300×200cm or larger — it should fill about a third to half of your longest wall. In apartments, measure doorways and lift access before ordering anything oversized.

Choose fabric for how you live

Performance linen is the best all-rounder for Dubai: breathable, stain-resistant and easy to clean. Boucle looks beautiful and hides light marks but suits lower-traffic rooms. Full-grain leather is the most durable and wipes clean. Velvet is best kept for formal sitting rooms.

Understand the "cloud" trend

Deep-seated, feather-filled cloud sofas have become the dominant style in Dubai villa interiors thanks to their sink-in comfort. They need space and pair well with high ceilings — lovely in a large room, overwhelming in a small one.

Custom vs ready-made

Because Dubai rooms vary so much, made-to-order sofas often fit better than imported standard sizes. Adams Furniture makes custom sofas in Dubai in your choice of size, fabric, seat depth and firmness, with a 2–3 week lead time from the Al Quoz workshop. You can also shop ready designs in our fabric sofas and linen sofas collections.

Before you buy, check

Ask about the frame (kiln-dried hardwood lasts longest), the cushion filling (foam density or feather blend), and whether covers are removable for cleaning. These details separate a sofa that looks good for one year from one that lasts ten.
